Hi,

I have an EP80 15 diesel and in few months ago a problem came when I try to start the car in the morning it will not start immediately. Sometimes I stay for a minute hoping that the battery will not go flat to start the car. I checked all the diesel pipes to see if there is a small hole and I changed some of them. I changed also the fuel filter.

It seems some fuel problem goes back to the tank when the car is off for some time.

When I switch on the car and try to swith it on, it start immediately.

Can you help me please?

Thanks for your time.

Sounds as if the glow system is not working, glow plugs preheat the combustion chamber for easy cold start, when the engine is warm, these plugs are not needed, get the glow plug circuit tested first, you can do this with a basic test, use a test light on a glow ply and see if you get current flowing when you turn on the ignition, cold engine the power should stay on for around 5-8 sec depending on coolant temp. If the test light does glow and there is current, you may have a faulty glow plug or 2, you will have to remove them and test them with a multi meter.

Hi Sir,

Thanks for your answer. I already changed all 4 plugs. They are new.
Another thing is when I park the car on a sloping road facing downhill, the car starts immediately. That is why I am thinking maybe something with the fuel going back or something like that.

Check all pipes and fitting are tight, I would expect to see fuel leaking, or air in the system and that would cause a not start until it was bleed out, is this a common rail engine, I cant get into my data base to check lust now.
