my carb is ideling high, how may i correct this? would the ideling speed cause an increase in gasoline usage and reduce the mpg? thanks

Hi there,
there can be a number of reasons why the idle is to high, base idle setting, a stuck choke valve, sticky choke idle up, A/c idle up stuck on, an internal fault with the carby. a problem with the distributor vacuum or engine timing take your pick, so i would get a mechanic to inspect this for you rather than experimenting with the settings.
