I was just wondering if any of those so called easy diy in 15mins and no tools required performance chips work. If u have been on ebay they are around and noticable. They claim to increase ur cars hp by 12-20hp.

I own a toyota this is why I posted this question here. I guess it generally applys anywhere.

The computer chips give a little more horsepower. They are easily put in, read the instructions carefully. You will see a diference in the gas miilage, it will get lower, if you don't have a performance engine and don't race do not get the performance chip, with that chip you have to change the thermastat. I have tried one on a 1995 s-10 blazer

In order to increase HP you need more air in the engine. These chips generally add fuel and timing.

They are effective on turbo engines with electronic wastegates, they actually increase boost a few lbs.

Unless they can change the VVT (if equipped), I think they are a gigantic waste of money.
