1991 Toyata Carolla, 220,000+ miles the problem with it is Last week was driving home from the mall when it started overheating and smoking badly. It broke down and wouldnt start up, I recently put in new oil anti-freeze and changed the spark plug wires(the spark plugs are fairly new) and it still will not turn over. Help me please!

Sounds like the head is cracked/warped. Try turning the engine over with a socket/ratchet on the balancer bolt. If it won't turn it may be siezed.

You can find a used engine at a junk yard (4A-FE or 4A-GE).

I replace the engine/tranny in my '91 last year for $900, (did the labor myself).
