I have a '99 Toyota Solara with 141,000 miles. My air conditioner will work if I'm just driving around town. If I drive it and run my air for about 200 miles it will eventually start to blow hot air. I can get in it the next day and it will be cooling again. I had it charged in Oct of '07. I just took it in again today to have it looked at. It was cooling fine. They didn't seem to know what the problem could be. They were going to check to see if the clutch looked worn and they were going to charge it again. Do you know what could be causing this?

Could be iceing up on long run. Have them check the low side pressure if it drops to low without cycling off it will freeze the evaporator and warm air will come out. Until you stop and let it warm up. Hard to diagnose if they are just checking operation the key is the long drive time. Have them run car windows up on recirculate and low fan watch low side see if comp. Cycles off.
Hope this helps
