WE HAVE A 1991 AUTOMATIC TOYOTA TARAGO 4CYL. THAT RUNS REALLY WELL CONSIDERING AGE & 280KMS. WE HAVE A PROBLEM THAT ALL THE MECHANICS CANNOT SEEM TO FIND. IT HAS HAD A FLAT SPOT RECENTLY (MAY BE DRIVING AT 60-70KPH & GO TO ACCELERATE & HAVE NO POWER TO ACCELERATE & THEN HAVE TO PULL OVER & LET IT IDLE FOR A MINUTE OR TWO & ITS FINE TO DRIVE AGAIN. SOMETIMES WILL DO IT WHEN COASTING THROUGH A ROUNDABOUT AND GO TO ACCELERATE TO DRIVE OUT OTHER SIDE AND THERE IS NOTHING - IDLE FOR A MINUTE & ITS FINE TO DRIVE. ALSO SEEMS TO BE HAVING A LOT OF TROUBLE ACCELERATING UP HILLS RECENTLY SO IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. ONE SUGGESTION HAS BEEN THE ELEC FUEL INJ, ANOTHER HAS BEEN ETHANOL PETROL MAY CAUSE FLAT SPOTS. MECHANICS HAVE ADJUSTED TIMING, AIR FLOW & BEEN OVER EVERYTHING & IT IMPROVES FOR A FEW HOURS OF DRIVING BUT RETURNS. ANY SUGGESTIONS. THANKS

Does it have an OBD code/s?

I would start by check for an exhaust backpressure, then the actual fuel pressure. Once these checks out-
I'll investigate the electronic engine controls such as the TPS/MAF/O2 and VSS sensors. Could also be in the ignition system or EGR
