I just recently purchased the car and while driving home I noticed that above 40 mph there is a very severe shake in the steering wheel but, if I let go of the wheel it will continue to shake but the car drives straight and it rides smoother than anything else I've ever driven and below 35 mph the shake is not there. The previous owner recommended replacing the bushings, I think it needs an alignment and new tires as the front are worn very unevenly, I was also told to adjust the steering since the wheel needs to be turned about 1-2 inches to the right in order to drive straight.

HI there,

You need to make sure that the steering & suspension are serviceable, fit new tyres and have an alignment done.

Could also be that your wheels need to be balanced.
