I have a small amount of fluid on the power steering pump very little drops on the ground. I also hear a rattling type of noise, coming from the area of the pump. Is there any way to tell if the pump is starting to fail. The leak is so small the power steering fluid resevoir is not dropping noticably. John

If pressure and return lines are not leaking, then most likely a seal in pump.

You would have to replace pump with new or rebuilt one.

Also ckeck PS pump cap, it may be leaking, it is NOT normal for a Toyota pump to fail this soon.
