My engine is using a quart every two hundred miles. Is it a good idea to put STP stop leak for this 1.8L engine? Would this prevent the piston from getting lubrication at all? Thanks in advance.

Check for leaks first.

Use Lucas oil treatment, but no more than 20%.

If blue smoke is visable on startup, then valve stem seals, a compression/leak down test will tell you if the rings are bad.

Hello,

First step would be to figure out where the leak is or if the engine is burning all that oil.
Check for any leak.
It can leak from the oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket any of the seals etc.

Here is a helpful guide on what to look for to find leak:

An engine can burn oil when the oil gets into the combustion chamber. This can be due to worn piston rings. Usually when an engine burns oil you will get blue smoke out of the tailpipe.

Please let me know what you find.
Thank you.
