Electrical problem
1995 Toyota Corolla Automatic

i just put in a used battery and remanufactured alternator, and new drive belt from Advance Auto Parts. 2 weeks in, my car will not turn over and there is no ticking noise. But all my lights come on, including stereo.I was thinking it might be the battery cables, but I wanna be sure before I pay for new ones. Any ideas of what the problem might be?

First ensure they are tight and the ends are free of corrosion. Have you tried jumpering the starter solenoid with a screwdriver? If it engages then you know its good. If it doesn't than the problem may lie with your starter, not the charging system.

On the starter/solenoid, there is a heavy cable coming from battery. Also there is a smaller wire. Using a screwdriver or jumper wire, make a contact between these two wires. Generally the smaller wire is a push on connection and will need to be slid back a little to enable contact of bare metal on the connector. Remember to push wire back when started. If little wire has a nut securing it just make contact between that and the heavy terminal. Also MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL AND PARK BRAKE APPLIED. Ignition switch must be turned on to start.
