1993 Toyota Corolla Cannot Engage gears

I cannot engage gears in my Toyota G-Touring. I went to mechanic who replaced the transmission cable. He then did bleeding. The system worked for one day and then failed again. What could be the possible problem and/or solution please. Charles

Do you have good pedal pressure with the clutch down?Is there excessive pedal free play?

Yes there is excess pedal play. The gears can not go through and the reverse gear is producing a funny sound.

You should be able to adjust out any excessive free play at the master push rod, if not you maybe looking at a faulty master cylinder.
