My Toyota Camry 1998 is working just fine, it has now 162000 miles. No warning lights on or visible problem.

Should I replace the catalytic and exhaust system as the manufacturer advised to do after 80000miles?

Thanks,
Al.

Do not replace what is not broken if the car is running fine. My Camry still have the original catalytic (240,000 miles). The check engine light will give a code if the catalytic converter needs to be changed. Just wanted to let you know the front catalytic converter (located on the exhaust manifold) cost $850 and the one underneath catalytic converter $500. Ouch! Plus you have to buy the original dealer part not aftermarket, otherwise, your check engine light will keep on coming ON. The exhaust muffler you can change if you want, this is cheap.
