1995 Toyota Camry Water Pump

I was told by my mechanic that I need to replace my car's leaking water pump before I can pass the annual inspection. Is this true?

Im not sure if a coolant leak would cause you to fail a safety inspection, or even an emissions test unless the engine was too hot from being low on coolant. Call the state and ask if coolant leaks will cause you to be failed.I would howerver suggest you have it taken care of ASAP, if the pump fails it will/could cause the engine to quit running due to timing belt failure, and possible internal engine damage
