1988 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Automatic 161000 miles

i have a 1988 camry I just bought as my car being that im a student. It starts good, a/c blows, can even drive on the high way. My question is the steering wheels shakes real bad, sometimes the whole car shakes real bad, what is the problem and what cshould ido to get that problem fixed? Also what maintenance should I get dont to the vehicle. It has 161000 miles I have no idea what needs to be done. I already got the oil changed and replaced the air filter but I plan on having this car for awhile so tell me what should I do to get this vehicle in tip top shape.

Have a shop you trust look it over to see what has been done to it. At 168. You should have about another 30k or so before it needs a timing belt/water pump. Have them see if it has been tuned up. The vibration could be a bad tire or suspension part, rotate the tires front to back and see if the stereing wheel quits shaking
