Toyota 4Runner knocking noise

After pulling my tractor out of a rut in 2 wheel drive, my 4runner started to make a knocking noise that gets faster when the rpms go up. It makes no noise when it idles, but it does for a few seconds when you start it for the first time. It has a 3.0 litre V6 with 258000 Kms

Sorry to say but it sounds like you might have spun a rod bearing or burned a main bearing. How is the oil presuure at idle and running?

That mileage the engine is almost at the end of it;s like. They had a lot of problems with head gaskets and there is a recall for it VO6.

I don't think it is a gasket problem. It probably needs a new engine.
