93 4Runner starter

I have a 93 toyota 4runner 4x4 V6 with about 160,000 miles on it. It makes a very fast clicking sound when I try to start it. I am pretty sure it's the starter, but am not sure. How do I determine if this is indeed the problem and how would I go about fixing it myself to save some money

Check the battery and its connections also at the starter. Might be the starter relay failing or the ignition switch.
