I replced the o2 sensor aft of converter, engine light was reset, driven for 100mi, will not pass NY State inspection, light came back on.

Further diagnostics with timming light shows a distinct flat spot in the ignition when the timming light was put on all three of the wires.

Any Clues?

Light came back on.

Is it for the oxygen sensor?

Engine misfiring can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.
