My question is, how would I determine if my timing belt has gone bad or is going bad and if so is that what it's tripping a knock sensor code?

Good morning,

No, a knock sensor code is not an indication of the timing chain.

You can tell if it is worn by taking a compression test. You should have 140-160 lbs of compression. They normally last around 150,000 to 200,000.

I'm not sure exactly what codes it is, I just know it's a knock sensor. I'm actually doing some investigating here for my niece. How difficult to learn about how long would it take someone of average skill to change the timing chain out and what would be the cost?

There are many codes for the knock sensors. That is why we need the code number. A parts store will read the codes for free.

The timing chain kit price is posted below.

As far as price, the parts are about $80.00.

The labor is 8 hours.

I would estimate the job at $850.00 to $900.00.

Actually I did find out that the code that was tripping or coming up with p0013. Any more lie on what's going on with that girl that if not if you could I greatly appreciate it.

Okay, the 13 is for a cam actuator. Most likely this is due to either a bad actuator or a clogged oil passages from dirt and debris.
