In a 2002 Volvo S60, the codes you've mentioned correspond to issues with different modules in the vehicle:

DIM E003: This code indicates a fault in the Driver Information Module (DIM). The DIM is responsible for displaying information on the instrument cluster, such as speed, fuel level, and warning messages.

CEM A156: This code points to a problem in the Central Electronic Module (CEM). The CEM is a critical control unit that manages various electrical functions in the vehicle, including lighting, power windows, door locks, and more.

So, I would start by checking the fuses this guide can help:

If the fuses are good chances are the IPC (DIM) has gone bad, here is how to change it out in case you need it. Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem so we can see what's going on.

From the description, it was referring to communication line faulty, there are no communication between those modules. The DIM was replaced with a used one and I used scanner to actuate the gauges, lights and warning lights and it all worked. Then I reset the fault code and cycle ignition twice and rescan and the code appears back before I decided to check the communication line first before any other thing. Does it need to be programmed when replaced?

Yes, it does need to be programmed. What special function of the scanner will I use for the programming or how do I program it with scanner?
