Temperature gauge not working

Installed new thermostat, housing, temperature sending unit, water pump, all hoses, radiator. Temperature gauge is not registering whatsoever. Gauge reads below cool. Mechanic noticed some dirty water in the block and that the bottom hose and the radiator was running cooler than the top hose. He suggested an engine flush. Why is the temperature gauge still not working?

This might be easy.

Maybe the gauge is bad?

Maybe the sender is disconnected?

Maybe you changed the wrong thing?

If I can add on here, let's check the connection between the sensor and the PCM and instrument cluster. here is a guide that will help you and the wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works:
