2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara Check Engine Light

My check engine light is on, what possibly could be wrong? And would it have anything to do with the brakes not working properly as if you have to apply them all the way in order to stop? Both of these things happened at the same time.

Beleive it or not it was due to the gas cap not being on tight!

Hi there,

The first thing to do is get the fault code read, this will give you an indication as to the fault. Read the code first, and report your findings, or consult your own mechanic.
