Sudden loss of pedal pressure then complete shutdown

New battery installed by auto parts retail store. Less than an hour later vehicle lost pedal acceleration then shutdown moments later. Got car restarted about half and hour later and drove to nearest mechanic about one hundred yards away. Computer check indicated ignition relay issue.

To me it sounds like the battery shorted out which does happen even to new batteries. Can we do a load test and get the codes it came up with? This would help.
