1996 Subaru Outback what could be the problem

My car started shaking really hard and then shut off. I tried to start it again and it did the same thing. I just would like to know what is causing it to do this so I know where to start

Is it due for tune up
check it for spark and check for fuel and fuel pressure
check timing

need manual CHECK IT @
