1992 subaru legacy, 202000mil, 4cyl. 2.2L eng. Can any one tell me if this vehicle is in full time 4=wheel drive, or do I have to somehow put it in 4=wd, and if so, how? ? Any help will be greatly appreciated. And I thank you very much for the help.

When the Legacy's trasmission is working properly - it is fulltime AWD. A little different from 4WD in that about 90% of the power is on the front wheels, and 10% on the rear. When the front wheels slip, the rear wheels get more power (i believe it goes to a max 50% front/50% rear).

The 'manual' light and button on the Automatic Shift lever (I saw your post last night but didn't have time to reply); have nothing to do with the AWD system, but rather what gear you want to drive the car in. As far as I've discovered, there's no real "point" to the button, but it does make for a bit more fun/hard driving ;)
