My car has stop/start system and my starter motor just pacled up and was wondering if it would work if i fitted a starter motor that does not have stop start.

No. The only starter that fits that engine correctly is the heavier unit made to work with the start-stop system. It has a heavier motor section and is designed to handle that use. A base starter motor will burn out in short order if used in that application.

I understand that a standard non start stop motor would burn out due to the constant start and stop of the car but the start stop system on my car doesn't work anyway so the motor would only get used for the initial start of the car.

The starter motor itself is physically different than a conventional starter, they don't interchange because of that. Personally I can't stand those systems but most of the companies out there also make it difficult to repair them by using different parts than the non-equipped engines. In theory you could fit a conventional starter, but I don't believe it will bolt up properly. What you could do is remove yours and go to the parts store and compare it to the "regular" starter.
