Steering column broken

Mechanics at shop pushed my car out of bay with no power and broke my steering column. Who's at fault?

No, not damaged, no problems with steering.

Went into shop for intake manifold gasket and while waiting for parts mechanic pushed it out of the bay and said steering wheel went 360.

If the wheel turns with no resistance, it may be something with the steering linkage.

What did they say is the exact failure?

I called the garage today, they said a bolt fell out. Replaced it. All good now. Thanks for your help.
