Our car suddenly stopped running and now won't stay running.
We had added a gas treatment to a full tank of gas during our road trip, once that tank of gas got low (probably just under a quarter of a tank) the car sputtered and shut off. When we tried to restart the car, the car would start up no problem, but after about 1-2 minutes it shut off. And not like a running out of gas shuts off, it's like as if I had turned the key right back off kind of shuts off. We tried adding more gas, at least 3 more gallons for sure. And it still does same thing when we try starting it. Will it help if we fill the tank up all the way again? Or is there further damage from trying to start it again, or is there possibly another issue?

Hi,

Based on your description, it sounds ignition related. The first thing I would suspect may be the problem is the crankshaft position sensor. When they start to fail, they are affected by heat and can cause the engine to stall due to a loss of ignition spark.

By any chance, do you have a scan tool to check if there are any diagnostic trouble codes?

Also, take a look at this link and let me know if anything seems to mirror what you are experiencing:

Let me know.

Take care,
