Starts but will not stay on

We can start the car with carburetor cleaner, but after it starts you have to hold gas down. Still shuts off after a minute even with the gas pressed. Has new carburetor, and distributor.

Good afternoon,

The first thing I would do is check the fuel pressure to the carburetor. You need 7 pounds from the mechanical fuel pump.

If that pressure is good, you need to have the carburetor overhauled as the issue would be in the carburetor itself.
