I paid my vehicle off and I had a GPS from the dealership put on it. I removed it and I took the ignition out to connect the wires, after reinstalling the ignition when I start it, it only runs for about five seconds, and then shuts off. Also, the antitheft light is not blinking.

It sounds like the security system needs to be reset, If the perimeter is set this is how you can disarm it:

Disarming the Perimeter Alarm

The perimeter alarm can be disarmed by:

- pressing the unlock button on a programmed RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) transmitter.

- pressing the liftgate release button on a programmed RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) transmitter.

- using a programmed key to transition the ignition to the RUN mode.

- entering the correct vehicle unlock code on the keyless entry keypad.

Here is how to reset the PATS system:

1. Insert the first programmed PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key into the ignition key cylinder and turn the ignition key cylinder to RUN (maintain the key in RUN for approximately 3 seconds).

2. Turn the first key to OFF and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder.

3. Within 10 seconds of turning the first key to OFF, insert a second programmed PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key into the ignition key cylinder and turn the key to RUN (maintain the key in RUN for approximately 3 seconds).

4. Turn the second key to OFF and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder.

5. NOTE: The doors lock and then unlock to confirm that each IKT (Integrated Keyhead Transmitter) is programmed.

Within 10 seconds of turning the second key to OFF, insert the new, unprogrammed PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key into the ignition key cylinder and turn the ignition key cylinder to RUN (maintain the key in RUN for approximately 6 seconds).

Also, you can try a hard reboot which is done by removing the negative side of the battery, with the cable loose from the negative side of the battery, hold it to the positive terminal for 1 minute this will discharge the memory capacitors in the BCM and PCM allowing the system to reboot.

If none of these things work let's run the codes. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) from Amazon for about $32.00.

Here is a video to show you how:

Please go over this guide and report back.

I don’t have a trunk button on my key. Does that make a difference?
