Stalls out and hard to restart when warm?

It is inspected and had even had time to hit the DMV for registration before I took a scenic drive though Cameron Park here in Waco. So, to check the box of a solid reason for "Stall out and Hard to restart when warm"
Technically- A brand New electronic ignition system was installed to replace the Mech points distributor. From the box the new part had a faulty component that when it reached a "Temp" of who knows it would not keep the right fire or break the circuit all together. When cooled component would act as if it was good. Even show fire to plugs while trying to diagnose the cause.
Man to Man- that piece of. Sheet, was trash from day 1 and I had the mind set of "can't be, it's new" while I continued to replace, change, cuss and dream of firebombs in the car. Parts!
So moral here is new don't mean good. Lol

Where do we go from here, so we need to start a new thread, maybe pass me off to a different pro, block my name due to weird, long and sometimes confusing or misdirected rabbit hole thoughts.
What do you know about vacuum line insanity? Or as manufacturers called it engineering marvels. Sorry brake lights and vacuum switches on a 64 Thunderbird?

Hi,

Okay, I needed a good laugh, and thank you for it. Waco. Are you in Tx? If so, I hope all is well. I've been bothered by what I am seeing and hearing and can only imagine what people are going through. Regardless, I better shut up.

As far as the PCV, take it from a valve cover to the intake. The hose you have in the pic looks like it would work. In the first pic, the engine looks new. LOL You do good work.

Now, my manual only goes back to 1966. Believe it or not, I did find a vacuum schematic, but it is for the 1966, 390ci. I attached it. I'm hoping it is somewhat helpful.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

See pic below. Note: In 1966 it had a PCV. It appears to attach exactly where your last pic shows.

Yes, Waco Texas is where I rein from. Thanks for the help and your encouragement and to be honest the only thing that keeps me from NASA type exploration and modification is cash. Honestly if I would have bought the $250.00 part and not that $80.00 we probably never would have had conversation. Lol but as far as this PVC question, I'm going to shoot you a couple better pics of the covers you can see the screws with O-rings that I honestly believe someone tried to install some type of vent system because I haven't seen them before and they're not symmetrical or the same on either one and it's kind of weird. But I did download the shop slash manufacturers manual for the car it's like 600 pages mostly writing no pictures for a ding dong like me. That means I got to read. Well, I got it in there is collecting this maybe I'll look at the vacuum diagram.

Just for curiosity, is the vacuum schematic I sent similar to the one in your manual?

I was able to find the schematic for a "Lincoln" with the same engine. It is running from the front of the engine back to the carburetor base.

See pic below.

From what I can tell. Yes, it looks like what I would vision if I put several pics from the book together. There is not an actual positive crankcase ventilation system picture. But for the hell of it let's see if you get this file. Well, it is not allowed. Maybe it is too big or because it is a PDF. On my style intake which I think there was many that were used even from factory. The port is in the rear, and it would have hooked to the throttle plate or maybe the radiator (radiator is what someone told a different guy) anyway touch reading for me. No vented covers, valve in the rear of intake. Which in turns or it reads the exhaust to the carb or plate.

Hi,

You may need to get a different base plate for under the carb. Were you able to locate anything on the engine where the crankcase vent would have been located?

If I am comprehending correctly the 1406 Edelbrock carburetor that is on it has a PCV port on the front. As well as a port at the rear that is blocked with a large set screw. I will have to go back through the rebuild kit instructions to identify the rear 1 correctly.

Hi,

The one you circled in yellow seems to be the one needed. That just looks like a rubber boot/plug. If that is at the base of the carb, it should take care of your needs.

Were you able to find anything that would connect to the engine? The pic I sent appears to be at front center.

Front of this one is the fill/breather tube. The rear is where I believe it to be.

Is the fill/breather tube where it releases crankcase pressure? That would make sense.

Sorry for the questions. It would be much easier if I was there. LOL

Yes, that is the release point. Just not 100% on the rest of it. Heck, I guess all there is to do is take the bolt/plug from the hose in the rear and see if it has vacuum or water, lol.

Hi,

The plug on the rear shouldn't have coolant in it. Remove it and take a look. I suspect you are going to run a hose between both places.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

All right Joe we're going to try this one one more time. This will be the third time on this message I hopefully nothing happens and it gets you erased. Now today I bought a PCV valve and in the middle of changing or locating it. But I have a feeling that's not what you want to hear. I feel maybe your brain is hungry for stimulation for some how to say can't find in a comic book kind of shit. The story you want to hear is the story of Friday.
It begins on a risk and fresh Friday morning around 4:30 a.M. I walk out and I say sorry F-150 but the bird is flying me today. The commute to work about 13 to 18 minutes interstate run across town. Was great ride cool weather look down was even cooking at 95 one time. You know everybody was looking at the car looking at the car talking car car car. Around 1:15 I realized I'm short on a couple things so I go to make an Ace hardware run because it would be quick. Jump in the car fire her up and the starter solenoid sticks and engaged. Not sure if you've heard one stay stuck engaged but it's bad! I feel like that's what it would sound like if I was getting my feet grind off while I was still alive well the key obviously didn't turn it off I jumped out fumbles for the hood latch The battery cable which just so happened got tightened up the night before by a gorilla lol and instead of running back to grab the tools while meanwhile the starter still grinding its ass off on the fly wheel I just give the positive terminal a good hammer fist knock the table loose as I knock a chunk of flesh off my knuckles. But it stopped. And eventually so did the bleeding so I jump in my brother's trailblazer go to Ace hardware and O'Reilly's after work installed the new starter solenoid it's pretty easy it's underneath the hood you know. So now I'm on my way home and I'll pull over just a timing a little bit if you have still playing with that My wife says hey won't you stop and grab the pizza I just ordered. Hell yeah pizza's the bomb I'm ready. Whenever I pull in I back up into the spot turn the key and won't turn off? To know when they'll the key that'll bump the starter but it's not killing it so I popped the hood pull the positive she still runs and I'm like yeah dumbass you got an alternator how about scratch my ass rub my head think about butterflies and rainbows. The light comes on, I pulled the ignition wire and you know it dies. Running to Domino's good pizzas get back to the car put the wire back on and I guess after it idling for I don't know 7 minutes or so while I was scratching my ass and rubbing my head It got pretty hot. And in the classic 390 FE old big iron bitch she didn't start as it turned over and turned over I realized I probably just fouled every one of my spark plugs. Call the wife to come get the pizzas and don't give me no crap I don't even think I can take a joke right now lol. Luckily there's a advanced auto parts across the street. So I run and grab eight auto light double platinum I'll get back to the car and don't forget she's only like 7,000° and getting a few of them spark plugs was well like giving the devil a c-section. So so I guess to finish it off about 9:00 p.M. My wife pulls up as I'm putting the last couple wires on It says I figured I'll come and hang out with you while you finish working on your car I said well that's good cuz I'm done Is she busted right off and then we left Domino's with a little bit of smell of rubber. Now on the way home I'm thinking to myself what in the world did I do wrong today and then she told me I've been to change she said for one it's time for you to name me for two if you say you love me the way you do why was you letting other people sit in the driver's seat. The three people sitting in that driver's seat on Friday not counting myself. Afterwards I said look here Mona Ami no one else will no strangers whatever sit in the driver's seat again you are My Love you are now Mona Ami!

Going to retry this one again! So, Joe this is a repeat retry so bear with me. Saturday, I wrote saying I am buying the valve and a hose at the moment but that's not the story you want to hear (yes PCV working good) what your brain and even your heart probably desires or is longing to hear like even more than your name being called when the bail bondsman gets the jail. You seek stimulation and some imaginative crack so say you want the story of Friday! Friday begins at around 4:30 a.M. I walk outside and it is a crisp clean 50°. I look at my truck and I say sorry F-150 bird is flying me to work. On the way to work which takes about 16 minutes interstate run. I look down at one point and we're rolling at 95 I'll back off a little bit pull in the parking lot of the job great day. Around 1:15 I need to run to the hardware store to pick up some random supplies because I need them now. Jump in the car she starts but the solenoid does not release It stays engaged. Not sure if you've ever heard one of those but I think that sounded worse than the thought of my feet being ground off while I was awake. Though I jumped out fumbled with the hood and I hammer fisted the positive post and got it to stop. Now not too bad I run to the hardware store parts store right across the road grab me a solenoid a bing bang boo. Now we're on the way home my wife says why don't you stop and pick the pizzas up I just ordered. I pull in the Domino's turn the key off and she doesn't shut off. So, as I stretch my head and my butt for about 8 9 minutes while it's idling, I remember pull the ignition wire, sweet she shut off. I run in grab the pizza come back out and realize the motor is probably at like 7 million degrees. Well, she starts she backs up and when I put it in drive she shuts off. I'll call the wife and say come get these pizzas and I got to work on the car. All right cross street grab some spark plugs because I know I just fouled it out trying to crank it and it not starting in the smell of fuel was lingering in the air. While I was changing the spark plugs on a hot motor she told me this being the car that she broke down three times today because in the process of showing her off I let three people sit in the driver's seat that's our spot she said. And then she said and if you don't give me a proper name this is going to happen again so there's shortly afterwards, she burned me a few times I talked sweet to her I gave her the name of Mona Ami! And she roared me home with smoke on the tires and sounded great the end for Friday anyway.

OMG! Yes, I got it. I think I would have thrown in the towel. The pizza would have been more important to me. LOL Plus, if I took that much meat off my knuckles, well, let's just say I wouldn't have been as calm as you. LOL

Is it running well for you now?
