Vehicle stalls in reverse, during a hard turn, or at a traffic light if the fan is on.

Has the check engine light come on? If so, start with identifying trouble codes. Here is the process to do it. Once you get the codes, let me know what you find.

You will need a scanner to do this. However, many of the nationally recognized parts stores do it for free. Also, when you reply back, I would like to know what the idle speed. It may be an issue with a idle air control valve not increasing the idle under a load.

Here is our web-page which explains its function. I have also attached a picture so you know what you are looking for.

Check engine light is not currently on but goes on and off, has three codes. P0420, p1612, and p0138. Idle speed in park is about 8,000.

To me this sounds like and EGR valve problem like it is hung open which will cause all of these problems. Please let me know if the engine has one, they came both ways with and with out the valve.

Here is a video that will show you how to test the valve:

If it does not have a valve then it must be the IAC valve stuck open like JACOBANDNICKOLAS is suggesting.

Check out the diagrams (below).

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

Ken, as it turns out the vehicle does not have an EGR valve or an IAC valve, it does have an intake manifold runner valve, could this be the culprit?

It does not sounds like it. It sounds more like the throttle body or throttle pedal position sensor needs to be replaced. It stalls and revs to 8,000 rpm?

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.
