At any speed, speedometer jumps to 120 mpg on a incline through transmission out of gear. Where on transmission is sensor located and looks like. Would this make vehicle run hot, over heat also?

The speed sensor has nothing to do with overheating that may be a blown head gasket and should be either pressure or chemically checked. Auto parts rent the tool and system has to be full of coolant. See link.

Speed sensor is at rear of transfer case. also, try unplugging dash then plugging back in.
