My car's speedometer (0kph), odometer (stuck in 72k ) are not working and also ABS, PS, and E break lights are on. What could be the possible problem?

Hi,

If the vehicle has ABS, the speed signal is provided by the vehicle speed sensor. If a failure occurs, you will get exactly what you described. The speedometer will become inoperative, and PS, ABS, and parking brake light will illuminate.

Here is what I suggest: We need to determine if my theory is correct. To do this, the vehicle's can-bus system needs to be scanned. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the different computers/modules are tied together via a few wires. A basic scan tool won't retrieve codes from the ABS module, so that is why I recommend this.

If by chance you have this type of scanner, here is a link explaining how it's done:

Let me know if you are able to have this done. If not, I can provide the directions for replacing the VSS, but want to be sure first.

Let me know.

Joe
