Speedometer and fuel gauge are not working

Hi, the speedometer has stopped working. The petrol meter is still working. What could be the problem?

Hello,

The inoperative speedometer is likely due to a faulty vehicle speed sensor (VSS).
The VSS is located on the transmission housing. It reads the rotation of the transmission shaft and sends that information to the ECM. Then the ECM translates it into the speed that you see on the gauge.

If the fuel gauge is not displaying correct level, that could be due to a faulty fuel level sending unit. This unit is built into the fuel pump assembly.
The level sending unit consists of a float and a resistor panel. As the fuel level goes up and down the float contact a different spot on the resistor. This is what gets displayed at the gauge.
