My car is Toyota Hilux Surf from 2000 (I can’t find it on here the model). The problem is yesterday the car was working fine and today the car is making a weird noise and the engine starts shaking, and when I switched the car off and took the key out the engine was still shaking and making noises without the key in ignition. So I decided to take the connectors to the battery off and then the whole engine stopped shaking. The connectors to the battery are very hot. I left it for 30 minutes to cool down and then I connected the connectors back into the battery (bare in mind the car is turned off) the engine starts shaking again. I’m confused on what happened is this a electrical error? Thank you

Good afternoon,

First, you should never take off battery connections with the engine running. It checks nothing and the voltage surge damages modules.

Did you check the plugs? I would pull a spark plug and see if they are wet.

I would also do a compression test as well to be sure nothing is wrong internally. You should have 140-160 pounds in each cylinder. You can rent a tester at a parts store.

Can you upload a video of the noise for us to hear?
