When starting the car there is a sufficient amount of smoke coming from exhaust?

I can't tell if I'm burning oil or something different. I don't believe that it's just from being cold out but I'm not sure. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

The color of the smoke is usually the indicator. Blue smoke is commonly oil being burned, black smoke indicates too much fuel getting to the engine, and thick white smoke indicates engine coolant is being burned in the combustion chamber.

Take a look at this link. Toward the bottom of the thread, it indicates the different colors of smoke you may see. Click on each one to get a better view of what is being discussed.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
