Basically, the truck is all new under hood. Drove the truck for about fifty miles or so and it just lost power and then shut down. Immediately I tried to crank while pulled on side of highway several times, no start. Sat about 15 minutes started right up drove home. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Based on the description, it sounds like a faulty crankshaft position sensor. When they begin to fail, heat adversely affects them. As a result, the engine can shut down due to loss of spark. After it cools a bit, it works again.

Do me a favor. Take a look through this link and let me know if it seems to mirror what you experienced:

If it happens again, check to see if you lost spark to the spark plugs. Here is a link that shows how to check:

Let me know your thoughts on what I mentioned. Also, let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
