SES light on and code P0442

Hello,

I did try replacing the gas cap and then resetting the code, but it ended up coming back on so that tells me the gas cap isn't the problem. I can smell fuel also as I am driving the vehicle too. I thought of replacing the canister purge valve to see if that would help.

Good afternoon,

This code could be many things. The fact you have and smell fuel tells me the canister may be full of fuel. It would have to be replaced. There is no cleaning procedure for this.

This is a result of the purge valve pulling fuel from the tank into the system and the canister.
