I purchased this vehicle from Colorado, summarized the vehicle was stolen and wrecked, I was aware of the vehicle and it had being stolen and found and returned by law enforcement after the joy ride. Ignition switch was replaced only because the key was so worn down I had to jiggle the key to get it out of the off position for sometimes 5 or 10 minutes, but the car always started with no security light issues. It started without fail until I replaced the switch it's been a year now with this issue. I am understanding that there is two different security systems for my car listed above. I asked which system do I have, is there something in the VIN that identifies the VAT system that is in my vehicle or does it even matter. The car did not come with a key fob, so did this car come with a key fob, the door s lock via power locks but the odd fact is that I have to hold the door lock button for two to five seconds before it locks. When it's time to unlock the doors just tap the unlock and it unlocks without that delay or having to hold the button like when you lock the doors for that two to three second delay.

Just so I am clear on what the issue is, you are able to always start the vehicle but the security light comes on and flashes for 10 minutes and then it goes off and you can start the vehicle?

If this is the case, then the key or ignition switch is not recognizing each other as programmed to the vehicle. So the fact that it is taking 10 minutes to stop flashing is actually the GM self learn delay process. So you put a key in the ignition and turn it on for 10 minutes and then you are able to start the vehicle.

When you replaced the ignition switch did you run the programming process? If not, that may be your issue. I am attaching below all the info needed. The last page contains the steps for the programming.

Let us know what happens with this. Thanks
