2002 Saturn Vue drags down engine

Vue would not start after work, called towing, had jump start, left parking lot. Vue died in intersection. Tow truck came back towed to shop. Shop replaced battery. Next day, when AC was on, almost killing at stop signs, 'cycling' down to 200 RPMs or less then back up to 800 then back down then up. Turned off AC and it doesnt do it. Same shop was not sure, suggested taking it to the 'city'. Said maybe computer?

Let's do this to start take it to a auto part's store like auto zone and have it scanned for code's. If you have any let me know the number's and we will go from there.

If there are no code's I would suspect since it only doe's it with a/c on that the a/c compressor or a/c clutch maybe at fault. Causing to much of a load on the engine. Did the shop ever check that possibilty out?Also when the engine is cold see if the center of the a/c clutch turn's freely.

Louie, the inside of the clutch will spin, not like free wheelin but it will turn with just a little effort.

Let's try this start the car and let it idle with the a/c on then watch the center of the a/c clutch does it spin then not spin then spin again?
