1996 Saturn SL2 starting the car

The car is trying to start and when you put your foot to the floor it finally starts up. Why is it having problems starting

Sounds like a bad coolant temp sensor that's screwed into ur head below where ur upper hose goes on to the head. There's two wire going to it a yellow one and a black one. When u remove the connector look and see if it's corroded if it is u will have to replace the connector. Make sure the car is cold and u will loose coolant. The sensors crack and leak coolant into the connector. If u replace the sensor make sure u get a brass tipped one the plastic tipped ones crack. There under 20 and that's ur best bet for ur starting concern. Let me know what u find.
