My son's car stalls after the car gets to operating temperature and sometimes when the brake is applied. We took the car to our mechanic, but he couldn't duplicate the problem. He then turned on the air conditioner and ran the car for 2 hours, idling, with no stalling. He said it maybe the the ignition module may need to be replaced or the computer chip may need to be reset or flashed with new software, but there is no dealer for Saturn in Hawaii anymore.

Aloha,

The mechanic said the code was either 51 or 55 and said it doesn't seem to be the problem. He feels that the computer needs to be flashed with the new software or the ignition control module may be bad. Since there is no Saturn dealership in Honolulu, can't do the flash thing. I was thinking about getting an ignition control module from a parts store or junk yard.

Your input is greatly appreciated and will donate soon.

Mahalo,
Robin

Let's do this before we start putting parts in the car. On the drivers side
bottom of the dash there's the obd1 connector where you would put a code reader on. Look at the top row of it far right side there's two pins side by side. Turn the key to the run postion don't start it and jump those two pins together and leave it that way. Watch the service engine soon light flash. You will see it flash once then two faster flash's. That's a code 12 that means the computer is good it will do this 3 times if it repeats the code 12 after the 3 times you don't have any codes. But watch the light for example if u see 3 quick flash's then 2 quick one's that would be a code 32 it would repeat 3 times then go to the next code when it gets back to code 12 then the code's are done. Let me know what you find and we will go from there.

I had this same problem today and I realized that when I was breaking my knee was pushing against my keychain and that turned the car off, if he has a keychain that hangs down then you might want get rid of it because your legs can push on it and turn the car off.
