I think I have overfilled my ac. I first added a full can of R134A and the system performed well, but seemed like it could've used more. So I took a second can and commenced to add it, after about half a can it stopped. As if it was full. I followed the directions, car running with ac on while I was filling it. Now the problem is, the inside fan runs but NO cold air. My thought process is that I probably overfilled it and there is a fault switch that automatically cuts the system off when it has TOO much freon. How can I bleed off some of the freon and reset the system so that it will work?

Thank you in advance

Refrigerant gas must be recovered via a specialist recovery pump, as releasing refrigerant any other way is extremely dangerous, the correct volume of gas can then be measured and installed.

Thanks for the response. Can I use an a/c vaccuum pump to empty the system and re-try filling it? If I use a vacuum kit, how does it work? Also, where exactly is the high low/ switch which is screwed on the a/c line by the underhood fuse box and how do I reset it?

I fixed the problem, come to find out. The system had a leak. I bought a can of R134A sealant, installed it, then waited to see if there was a leak. Sure enough, it was on the low side line that bolts to the compressor. I wiped it clean, waited to see if it leaked anymore. Nothing. I proceeded to fill it with a can of R134a refrigerant, it took about 15 or so minutes to completely fill. I now have a car with COLD AC.
