Help ! By the book. Crankshaft TDC, Cams (DOHC) locked in place with 3/16 drill bits with shiny links on each gear mark. But when I go to put the chain guide on that rides on the chain tensioner.I do not have enuff slack in the chain to finish the procedure. But ! When I pull out the drill bits and let the cams rest on their own, It appears the slack is enuff to finish the procedure. The shiny links are still on the marks the cams just move a little. Is this the correct way and if it is why doesnt the book bring this up?

As long as everything is lined up correctly when ur done u will be ok. After u get everything all on just make sure all the marks are still lined up shiny links with cam marks crank sprocket mark linned up with block etc.I dont know why the book doesnt tell u to do that I call those variables that the book just doesnt tell u. Let me know how it goes sound like u are doing pretty well so far.
