Timing Chain

I was told by someone at a used parts car lot that these timing chains go at 40,000 miles and to replace it before it goes, or the engine will be ruined.

Should I have this timing chain replaced now before it goes, and what is involved in replacing it? Does the engine have to be torn apart? Thanks!

Timing chains go for a long time. Up to 150K miles Saturn does not recomend changing. The person was confusing timing belt and yes it can damage engine but you have a chain.

Thank you for the quick response to my question.
I did not realize the timing chain and serpentine belt were 2 different things.

Please provide clarification to:

"Timing chains go for a long time. Up to 150K Saturn miles. Saturn does not recommend changing. The person was confusing timing belt and yes it can damage engine but you have a chain."

What mileage should the SERPENTINE BELT (THE SAME AS "TIMING bELT?") BE CHANGED?

Serpentine belt is the one that drives the A/C, steering pump, alternator, water pump and should be changed at 35K miles
