Stalled and will not start. Before this happened the check engine soon light came on?

My Saturn SL2, 1.9 DOHC stalled and will not start. Before this happened the check engine soon light came on and the the instrument cluster went dead(speedometer, tach). The security idiot light came on along with the fuel guage dropping down to zero for a half tank. Any suggestions on where to start.

Sounds sort of like a power issue. I'd start by make sure the battery is fully charged and in operable condition.

Make sure all cables and connections are good.

It sounds like the battery or alternator shorted out, I would remove both and take them to the auto parts store for testing. This guide can help as well.
