This is most likely cause of this is an issue with the PCM. The way this works is the PCM monitors the crankshaft position sensor and then sends the signal to the cluster.
We know that the sensor is working because the engine starts and runs so the issue is between the PCM and cluster. So that means it is wiring or the cluster or PCM itself. The way to figure this out is we need to hook a scan tool up to it and not only check for codes but check in the PCM for the crank signal.
I am confident that it will be in the PCM as I stated before the engine starts and runs. That will leave wiring or the cluster.
If it is wiring then we should have some codes for communication errors.
