The car as of late is running very rough. When waiting at lights it seems to increase its rev range. When driving quite often you will notice the rev gauge jump and settle again. The shifting between gears isn't smooth anymore and have noticed a substantial increase in fuel consumption. I was wondering if it could be a vacuum leak or faulty sensor. It has been serviced and had its spark plugs changed.

Hello, is or has the check engine light been on? If it is there is a diagnostic code stored, but it does sound like a vacuum leak, this vehicle does have a mass air flow system. So I would recommend checking around the intake air boot for any cracks or loose tubing. Any air that enters the engine after the the mass air flow, the engine computer won't be able to read this false air and it will have symptoms like this. Here are a few articles to help you determine what the cause may be.
This is a link to our YouTube page as well, there is a lot of very helpful information and videos to help narrow down a problem.
