Only high beams are working. I have replaced the turn signal switch and am in the process of replacing the hazard/turn switch relay in the dash. Could this be the issue for all of the problems or could it possibly be somewhere else?

Hi,

Is it only the right signals that don't work? If so, then at this time, I feel it is two different issues. I attached the wiring schematic below for the headlamps and highlighted everything related to the low beams.

Check the fuses and the relay in the instrument panel fuse/relay box. As far as the headlamps, I don't see how it could be a fuse because the high beam is powered from the same fuse.

Let me know if there is a change when the relay is tested. Also, if you haven't purchased a new relay yet, here is a link explaining how to test one.

Pic 3 shows the relay location in the left instrument panel fuse/relay box.

Let me know.

Joe

Yes sir, it's both right side blinkers. Front and back. I tried the hazards with the car off and they still did not work. I checked the fuses, but they were fine, but I hadn't checked that relay that was also in the fuse box. And thank you for the information on the low beams. They worked kind of sporadically then one day they just stopped all together. In order for me to get the high beams to stay on, I have to hold the turn signal switch back manually. It just clicks on and off instead of staying on when I pull the turn signal lever back. Would a ground possibly mess all those things up? Sorry if it's a stupid question, lol. Trying to learn more as I go! Thank you for your time! I'm sure you'll see my name a few more times as I have a Cadillac Escalade awd I'm having to fix and a Chevrolet Silverado 5.3L as well. Most seem to be electrical issues, but the Escalade is another story all together, lol. Thank you again!

Hi,

I feel I misunderstood your first post. Am I correct in assuming the headlamps don't work unless you pull the high beam switch and then turn off when you release them?

Let me know.

Joe

Yes sir! The running lights in the front work but no low beams at all and the high beams only when holding the switch back but when I let go, the high beams go off.

If the fuses I mentioned are good and the relay as well, chances are the switch itself is bad.

At this point, you can check for power at the switch, or try replacing it. However, make sure the fuses and relay are good.

I attached the directions for switch replacement below.

Let me know if that takes care of the problem or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
