Howdy,

My exhaust system is all "one piece", meaning everything is welded, so there's no clamps or brackets for easier disassembly and replacement. I'd like to replace the stock muffler with a Flowmaster 40 for a more aggressive tone, a V8 needs to be heard ya know.
Should I just go ahead and get the parts and adhesive/sealants and a hacksaw? It seems like a simple job as long as I measure everything correctly for the inlet/outlets.

You can just cut the stock one out and replace it. But you don't really want a 40 series if it's a daily driver. Unless you don't want to be able to hear anything except the exhaust inside the car. They are very loud for a street vehicle. If you live in an area that does inspections it may fail as well because of the increased noise, hard to say.

What affordable muffler would you possibly recommend for a deep tone, but at a mild to moderate volume? Something that would be appealing, but also neighborhood friendly, lol.

Flo-master has a few different series that are quieter. The Super 50 series are much better suited for the street but still sound better than stock. It depends on what sound you are looking for.

I mostly just want to hear those deep, low frequency rumbles and grumbles that sounds like a big engine purring and growling, lol. But, with less of the super loud, higher frequency noise that makes your ears uncomfortable.

Yeah the 40 has a lot of the sound you don't want. I ran them on a street strip car for a while, inside the car was almost as loud as the outside! Almost as loud as the straight pipes on a top fuel.
